With Christmas just around the corner, I have become a full on creating machine. So if I am absent around here and not leaving comments or answering my comments, Freddie and I are having a serious love in. So my next lot of ambitious pressie making (because I am taking on commissions, yes I am insane, but Nippori is a-calling) that I want to make by Tuesday, and so I guess I will show you what I destashed today (thank you once again 1/4 inch for hosting the meme). Oh I have already hacked into the said fabric and even started a few.
The toy stash:
Spotty Velour for a spotty dog for a puppy mad side kick and some stretchy velvet (the fake sort of course) for a platypus (it’s destiny for this scrap that has languished for a year).
The Shirt Stash:
5 metres of genuine shirting fabric. I bought this off a tailor wholesaler (you should see the wool blends people, swoon…) yesterday. S would love an Ayama original shirt and seeing that I was hopeless on the birthday front, I am making the one in the blue and green check and the monochromatic blue check for him. My FIL is turning 62 on New Years day, and the Outlaws are finally appreciating the handmades. One was thrilled when MIL asked me to make him a shirt for his birthday. Seeing he likes blue, I thought a blue striped shirt should do the trick. I am using this pattern (though it will be a short and not long sleeve) for the boys.
The Backpack:
Because we need a handmade and not an evil Hello Kitty backpack. Not fond of her. But the sidekick loves to pretend she is Dora these days, so a backpack is a must. If one can’t stand the sight of the ONLY CT sized backpack, well, I guess I need to do something about it.
Do you like my cunning plan?? One can see Kitty being banished, nay exiled if she has a puppy-pack.
The Cape Stash:
The gold and green were scavenged out of Arab St remnant bins, both are Italian acetate. Need to do something practical with the impulse buys, now don’t I?? Imaginative play is becoming popular so why not encourage it?? I am using Apple Cyder’s tutorial. The purple scrap is from that charmeuse dress I moan bonded about. I need to get much better at dealing with these fabrics. So I am challenging myself.
Arg about the quality of the photos. The sky was heavy and grey all day. Love wet weather days but not the best for taking photos. Okay, I am off to go check three stashes and then sew. Oh and they are not the only things on the I want to make on the Chrissie list, but we will have to see how I go.
