A little over a month ago, Donnie and Happy took us to a community symphony concert at Mt Mee (and lunch here). This was a first for Miss CT and it had been a good three years for me in between concerts.
When I was a little girl, Donnie and Happy would take me to see the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at the Cairns Civic Centre. I remember them as being magical evenings; beautiful music, being surrounded by adults and a special new dress for each concert. Naturally, Miss CT needed a new dress for the occasion too. Seeing that the weather is coolish here, I naturally needed to make something out of a printed corduroy and I was in need of a make it quick fix, I choose a pinafore (New Look 6880 to be exact). I added pockets and ric rac on the hem (should have had the thinking cap on and added ric rac to the pockets). To ensure that the pinny was an instant hit, it seemed logical to add puppy buttons and a puppy applique. It all went together very quickly (honest, it is a simple pattern).
Unfortunately there aren’t any photos from the concert (oopsies someone forgot the camera), though CT enjoyed her day. We did spend most of it outside as the older crowd frowned at the little girl who wanted to sing and dance to the music. Nobody cared when we were outside.
I leave you with an action shot of CT in her pinny (with matching tights, her fave vest, turtle neck and boots) from today. We went to Brisbane’s bay side (Wynnum to be exact) where there is a beach and tidal wading pool.

Glad that you all enjoyed yourselves, both inside and outside the concert hall. The weather sure looks cold by the number of layers on CT, and I saw that CT has a matching indian dot on her forehead, hehehe…. Hope that you will have the time to do some sewing as you get more accustomed to your teaching.

Very cute, I recognize those buttons! Eleanor carries hers around with her. I don’t think I’ll be able to sew it on anything or she’ll cry.
And so I don’t bog you down with 3 emails in a day – the cake looks yummy & that scarf is way fun!

Sounds like a magical evening! How delightful that she had a new pinny to wear too – with puppies!! How I would have loved to have seen her singing and dancing at the orchestra! Jealous of your bayside, I’m really craving the beach and tidal pools right now!

Hey, I’m just checking in and wondering if you got the belated birthday card I sent. I haven’t been around computer land much lately, and I see you haven’t either. How is the little miss, and her mum? Just saw on Jen’s blog that you in spring time now – that still blows my mind that we are on opposite seasons. Just wanted to say hello, and that I’m afraid to look on your flickr as I’m sure miss CT has grown and changed some more since this picture was taken. I’m in a fragile state anyway having just sent the boys back off to school. : (
